The perennial tree is still green and has many roots, covering nearly all three sides of the stupa. In the pagoda there is also an ancient well (Jade well) with cool water. In the past, during the drought season, all the other wells dried up, but the old well still had water, so people in the village had to go to the old well to draw water.
