Bach Dang festival is also known by the locals as the death anniversary festival, which is an annual traditional cultural activity held to commemorate and express gratitude of the people of Quang Yen in particular and the Vietnamese people in general with national heroes. At the historic Bach Dang River, three heroic battles of our people have won against the Northern invaders. This place is a dazzling lipstick for more than 4,000 years of national history, which is a seal of the heroes who have fallen to keep the southern border. So despite having spent dozens of centuries, Quang Yen people still organize the festival instead of gratitude to the generations of their fathers.

Bach Dang festival is held periodically on the 6th to the 9th of the 3rd lunar month every year, there are also five festivals lasting longer, up to four days and nights. The festival space is held in the complex of historical sites - where the imprint of the victory of Bach Dang. The main places of festival activities include Tran Hung Dao temple, King Ba temple, Trung Ban, Dien Cong communal house, Trung Coc temple and festival center in Yen Giang communal house.

In 2012, Quang Yen town made a record and was approved by the Prime Minister No. 1419 to rank the Bach Dang Victory Site Complex as a special national monument. On February 18, 2013, the Prime Minister continued to sign Decision No. 322 for the master plan to preserve and promote the value of the Victory Historic Site of Bach Dang. In 2021, in order to preserve the long -standing traditional cultural values, preserve the festival and the custom of showing the spirit of solidarity and drinking water to remember the source of our nation, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism signed the decision to bring the Bach Dang festival into the list of national intangible cultural heritage. This is the affirmation for the position, role and meaning of this festival, promoting the locality to take steps to preserve and develop more historical significance as well as create a highlight in Ha Long tourism.

Bach Dang Historical Relic

Bach Dang Historical Relic is located in Quang Yen Town and Uong Bi City. This is the place marking the event when the Tran Dynasty's army and people achieved a famous victory - the Bach Dang Victory, defeating the Yuan Mongol invaders in 1288. In the history of our nation's defense of the country, Bach Dang River has witnessed our army and people three times resoundingly defeat the mighty Northern invaders, all with wooden stakes planted in the Bach Dang river bed. That was Ngo Quyen's Bach Dang victory in 938; 981 by Le Hoan and the peak was the Bach Dang victory in 1288 by Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan. Bach Dang River has become a historical river, Bach Dang stake has become a symbol of the tradition of fighting foreign invaders by waterway of the Vietnamese people. After more than 700 years of sedimentation by the river, the pile pile was deep under layers of mud. It was not until 1953 that people digging soil to build dikes discovered the Bach Dang piles.
