Located between West Lake and Truc Bach Lake, Thanh Nien Street is considered "the most romantic street in Hanoi". This special street is also where the most beautiful and famous temples and pagodas in the Capital are located.

1. Located on an island in West Lake, connected to Thanh Nien Street by a bridge, Tran Quoc Pagoda has a history of 1,500 years, making it the oldest pagoda in Hanoi. According to history books, the pagoda was built during the reign of Ly Nam De (541–547), initially located on a plot of land next to the Red River.

During the reign of Le Kinh Tong (1600 - 1618), the pagoda was moved to Kim Ngu island, which is the current location. During the reign of King Le Hy Tong (1675 - 1705), the pagoda changed its name to Tran Quoc. Today's pagoda architecture is a combination of architectural styles from many periods, in which Nguyen Dynasty architecture is the dominant one.

The structure and interior of Tran Quoc Pagoda follow the strict principles of ancient Vietnamese pagodas. The pagoda consists of many layers of buildings with three main ones: the front hall, the incense burning house and the upper hall connected to form the letter Cong (工). The highlight project is the Luc Do lotus stupa built in 1998.

During its long history, Tran Quoc Pagoda has always been a famous scenic spot of the ancient capital Thang Long as well as today's capital Hanoi. The pagoda has welcomed many heads of major countries to visit and was voted by the international press as one of the most beautiful pagodas in the world.

2. Located on the south side of Thanh Nien Street, Quan Thanh Temple (literal name is Tran Vu Quan) is the largest and most beautiful ancient temple in Hanoi. This is also one of the Thang Long Four Towns - four sacred temples guarding the four sides of the ancient Thang Long citadel.

Legend has it that Quan Thanh Temple dates back to the reign of Ly Thai To (1010 - 1028). Initially, the temple was located in a different location and was moved to its current location in 1474, during the reign of King Le Thanh Tong. The current appearance of the temple basically dates from the renovation in 1836-1838 during the reign of King Minh Mang.

The temple's main hall is where the statue of Huyen Thien Tran Vu was cast in black bronze in 1677, during the reign of Le Hy Tong. This is a unique work of art, marking the bronze casting techniques and talents of Vietnamese artisans three centuries ago.

Huyen Thien Tran Vu statue of Quan Thanh temple is also famous for its sacredness. Anyone who goes to worship at the temple also touches the toes of the statue to get fortune.

3. Located on a small island in Truc Bach Lake, connected to Thanh Nien Street by a stone bridge, Thuy Trung Tien Temple is an ancient temple restored in 2017. The temple is popularly known as Cau Nhi temple, associated with the anecdote about Than Cau and the event of King Ly Thai To moving the capital to Thang Long.

However, around Cau Nhi temple, there has been a heated debate among historical researchers. The reason is that today there is nothing left to confirm the existence of this temple. In the 1850s, a temple called Thuy Trung Tien was located on the island, a place to worship Mother Thoai and the Fish God.

Due to many opinions about the name "Cau Nhi", the project to restore the temple was launched in 2005 but delayed for more than a decade. It was not until 2015 that the project was implemented and inaugurated in 2017. The new temple's official name is Thuy Trung Tien Temple.

In the introduction to the temple engraved on the stone stele, there is not a single word mentioning the name "Cau Nhi" or the story of the Dog God. However, the name Cau Nhi will forever be preserved in the minds of the people.
