Tay An Pagoda
Tay An Nui Sam Pagoda, also known as Tay An Co Tu, is located at the foot of Sam Mountain, in Nui Sam ward, Chau Doc city, An Giang province. About 5 km from the city center, the pagoda is a famous spiritual destination, located in the Sam Mountain relic complex along with Ba Chua Xu Temple, Thoai Ngoc Hau mausoleum and Phuoc Dien pagoda. Built in 1820 under the reign of King Minh Mang, Tay An Pagoda has undergone many restorations but still retains its ancient features and unique beauty. In 1980, the pagoda was ranked as a National Architectural and Artistic Monument. The most special feature of the pagoda is the harmonious combination of traditional Vietnamese architecture and influences from Indian architecture. Stepping through the three-entrance gate, visitors will be impressed with the spacious space, many green trees and three outstanding ancient houses with round, bright yellow roofs. On the grounds there are also statues of a white elephant with six tusks and a black elephant with two tusks, which have special meanings in Buddhist beliefs. The main hall is located in the center, has two curved roofs, exquisitely decorated with images of the four sacred dragons, unicorns, tortoises, and phoenixes. The pagoda still preserves thousands of elaborately carved statues, expressing unique cultural and artistic values. Dien Hong flower garden, also known as Con Coc flower garden, is located in Hoan Kiem ward, Hanoi city. This is one of the flower gardens with a long history, associated with many traces of Hanoi from the French colonial period. The flower garden was built by the French in the late 19th century, initially named Chavassieux Square.
