King Le Temple Festival

King Le Temple Festival King Le Temple is located in the relic complex of Na Lu citadel. This is the center of economic, cultural and military activities of many ancient feudal kings and mandarins. In the 11th century, Nung Ton Phuc, the leader of Quang Nguyen province, proclaimed himself Emperor Chieu Thanh, founded Truong Sinh country, built a citadel, and built a palace at Na Lu. In 1430, Be Khac Thieu - a Tay chief, after raising an uprising against the Ming army (14th century) proclaimed himself Be Dai Vuong, set up his capital in Na Lu citadel, repaired the citadel, and established a palace. In 1431, Le Loi personally sent troops to suppress and repair the citadel. After that event, the people established "Sinh Tu" to worship King Le Thai To (Le Loi).  In 1592, Mac Kinh Cung ran to Cao Bang, occupied Na Lu citadel and established a palace here. Through the reigns of kings: Mac Kinh Cung, Mac Kinh Khoan, Mac Kinh Vu. In the 2nd year of Vinh Tri (1677), during the reign of King Le Hy Tong, the Mac Dynasty was defeated by the Le Dynasty army. In 1682, the 3rd year of Chinh Hoa under the reign of King Le Hy Tong, Le Van Han, the governor of Cao Bang, asked to change the Mac palace into the temple of King Le, taking the robe and sword to worship at the throne. Before the August Revolution and during the anti-French colonial period, King Le Temple was a place where many important events took place. Here in early 1936, comrade Hoang Dinh Giong instructed the establishment of the Anti-Imperial Youth Union; In 1944, the temple was the meeting place for the Cao - Bac - Lang Interprovincial Conference; In September 1945, the temple was the gathering place to send off troops heading to the South... In 1995, King Le Temple was ranked by the State as a National Historical and Cultural Monument, a gathering place for festivals, cultural and artistic activities of the people in the region. Every year, King Le Temple Festival is held on the 6th day of the first lunar month. In addition to the ceremony, which is conducted early in the morning in the presence of a large number of people in the area, the festival includes cultural and artistic activities and folk games: Chinese chess, human chess, pushing sticks, tug of war..., attracting a large number of people to participate.
