To have a complete experience, you should clearly understand the important information below. Lim Festival lasts for two days with many solemn ceremonies and vibrant festivals. This is an opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the unique Quan Ho cultural space, participate in folk games and admire unique artistic performances. According to historical records, Lim festival originated from ancient singing festivals and pagoda festivals of people in the Kinh Bac region since ancient times. This festival is associated with the legend of Truong Chi - the boy with a captivating voice in the fairy tale "Truong Chi - My Nuong" which is still passed down to this day. Lim Festival was held regularly from the 19th century to the first half of the 20th century, becoming a typical cultural feature of Bac Ninh, representing the quintessence of Quan Ho art. However, during the war against the French and the Americans, the festival was interrupted for many decades. After the country was unified, the Lim festival was restored and maintained annually, becoming one of the most important festivals of the Kinh Bac region. Lim Festival is not only a cultural event but also a bridge for exchanging beliefs of local people. The festival honors the art of Quan Ho singing - an intangible cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO in 2009, while contributing to preserving the traditional beauty of the Kinh Bac region. Besides, Lim festival also arouses the spirit of patriotism and national pride. Tourists come here not only to immerse themselves in the festive space but also to appreciate the long-standing cultural values of their homeland. The Lim Festival is associated with Lim Pagoda - a place to worship Mr. Hieu Trung Hau (Nguyen Dinh Dien), a mandarin who once defended Thanh Hoa and made many important contributions to the royal court. He is also the one who expanded the Lim festival from a village festival into the large regional festival it is today. In addition, Nguyen Dinh Dien is also considered the founder of Quan ho singing culture. After his death, his descendants buried him on Lim Mountain and built Hong Van mausoleum. To remember his merits, people maintain worship and incense sticks here all year round.
