CO LOA FESTIVAL – NATIONAL INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE LIST Co Loa Festival, also known as "Bat Xa Ho Nhi" festival, Bat Xa Loa Thanh festival, is a type of traditional festival and has been included in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List in Decision No. 603/QD-BVHTTDL dated February 3, 2021 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. With typical values, representing and expressing the identity, creativity and cultural diversity of the Bat Xa community, worshiping the Holy Ancestor Emperor An Duong is expressed through the practice of rituals and beliefs in the ceremony and festival. The central space for practicing the Co Loa festival is the Noi Citadel area of ​​Co Loa commune, with a complex of architectural relics of temples, communal houses, temples, temples, places to worship King An Duong Vuong, My Chau, god Kim Quy, general Cao Lo and related figures. In particular, the "core" space of the festival is the Thuong temple area (worshiping the Holy Ancestor Emperor An Duong and those who have contributed to the people and the country) in Co Loa commune. The community of Bat Xa residents worshiping the Holy Ancestor Emperor An Duong (today is 8 villages in 3 communes: Co Loa, Uy No, Xuan Canh, including: Co Loa, Van Thuong, Mach Trang, San Gia, Ngoai Sat, Dai Bi, Cau Ca, Thu Cuu) is the cultural subject - the creative subject, practicing the Co Loa festival. In which, the Co Loa village community (including 12 hamlets: Nhoi Upper, Nhoi Below, Lan Tri, Ga, Dong, Vang, Huong, Thuong, Bai, Cho, Chua, Mit) plays the main role in running the rituals and festival performances. The festival is held on the 5th - 6th of January every year (the 6th of January is the main festival). Co Loa Festival is on a large scale, with close coordination between the City's state management agencies, Thang Long - Hanoi Heritage Conservation Center, Co Loa Relics Management Board, District Party Committee - Dong Anh District People's Committee, Party Committee - Co Loa Commune People's Committee, district and commune authorities, communities in villages and hamlets that practice the festival and become an important and large festival of the Capital and the whole country. Co Loa Festival is a major festival in the region with the participation of Bat Xa (Eight ancient villages with the same belief in worshiping An Duong Vuong), with solemn ceremonies and rituals carefully prepared by the people of the villages and communes many months before the festival, usually conducted from November, at the latest, December of the previous year.
