Dinh Nghi Tam Festival

Quang An, Tay Ho, Hanoi

Nghi Tam Communal House (Tay Ho District) Nghi Tam communal house is located in Quang An ward, Tay Ho district, Hanoi. Dinh Nghi Tam is the name of the relic's location. It is also called Nghi Tam temple (temple). Nghi Tam communal house now belongs to cluster 4, Quang An ward, Tay Ho district, Hanoi. Nghi Tam is an ancient land with a long history. This was originally Tam Tang camp from the Ly Dynasty (1010 - 1255). According to the legend, the ordination at the communal house said that the communal house worships three gods: Minh Khiet Duc Thanh, Phu Quoc Court, and Bao Trung Cuong Doan, all of whom are water gods of West Lake. Legend has it that: During the second reign of the Ly dynasty (Ly Thai Tong), the king often went away to go hunting at Dam Dam lake. One day, encountering heavy rain and wind, the king had to take temporary shelter in an ancient temple in the village (ie Nghi Tam communal house). Seeing this, the village elders and the people immediately brought special seasonal foods to present to the king. Seeing the damaged and dilapidated temple, the king called the elders to visit and inquire about the situation, then gave money to repair the temple. After the king passed away, moved by his merits, the villagers every year at all times held ceremonies to commemorate him. A few years later, people celebrated Ky Yen ceremony. That night the elder dreamed that the king was sleeping far away and came to explain clearly: The name of the three gods is the Water God of West Lake. During that time, the people in the village still worshiped and prayed for all the blessings. Throughout the dynasties, they were all awarded the title: "Most superior spirit". The fourth god worshiped in the communal house is Hoang Hiep Tay Ho Thuy Than Chi Chi, also the Water God of West Lake. However, according to the ordination, this god was not brought into worship at the communal house until the 19th century. Sac dated as early as the 6th Tu Duc (1853). The fifth god worshiped is Thai Su Lu. Legend has it: He belongs to the Confucian scholars, from the Lu country, and his family follows the Confucian career. He left the Northern Kingdom for the Southern Kingdom during the Han Dynasty, the reign of Emperor Ping. He came to this hamlet to reside and teach here. He taught and trained many talented students. The sixth god is Princess Quynh Hoa Doan Trang. According to legend, during the reign of King Le Thanh Tong, there was a mandarin named Tran Vi in Son Nam religion. After retiring, he opened a school in Nghi Tam village. One day while he was dozing off to sleep, he found himself lost in heaven, and someone took him to see the court of God. That day, the king was considering reincarnating people to the lower world. An official said that the lower world already had Lieu Hanh, but the village in the outer world and the capital were still missing one person. The Jade Emperor approved Princess Quynh Hoa's reincarnation into Tran Vi's house and handed the princess over to him. Not long after, she gave birth to a daughter. Tran Vi saw that his child looked like a fairy in his dream, so he named him Quynh Hoa. Growing up, Quynh Hoa was famous for her beauty, and her grandparents Married her to Lieu Nghi - a good student who passed the doctoral exam. At that time, the Champa invaders entered Thang Long, Lieu Nghi was sent to the army, Quynh Hoa also disguised herself as a man to bring soldiers and servants to support her husband. Returning triumphantly to Lieu Nghi, the king appointed him the Royal Palace. When Lieu Nghi died, Quynh Hoa asked the king to let him return to Nghi Tam. In addition to being talented in poetry and archery, she was proficient in growing mulberry trees and raising silkworms, comforting the people and popularizing silkworm farming. She became the village's tutelary god and was revered as the Silkworm Princess. Nghi Tam Communal House has a long history of creation. Although the epitaphs are only posthumous epitaphs, they were all created during the Le dynasty. The earliest was in the 24th year of Chinh Hoa (1703), the latest was in the 41st year of Canh Hung (1780). The Tien Sacrifice House consists of 3 rooms built in the style of a gable wall. The harem consists of 3 rooms, because it was made in the style of hitchhiking, the roof is tiled, the roof is covered with nails. Currently, Nghi Tam communal house still preserves the local folk culture festival. Every year the village holds a festival on the 10th day of the second lunar month. The communal house procession carries the palanquin to Kim Lien pagoda and then returns to the communal house. In the festival, there are many folk games such as: chess, shrimp nest... Nghi Tam Communal House was ranked an architectural and artistic relic by the Hanoi People's Committee in 2002.
