Vu Lan Bao Hieu Time: July 15 lunar calendar Vu Lan, the day of filial piety with parents, grandparents and ancestors; is one of the main holidays of Buddhism. Based on the Vu Lan Kinh, on the full moon day of July every year, the Vu Lan ceremony is solemnly held to dedicate merit to parents, grandparents and ancestors. The Vu Lan ceremony coincides with the day of the death of the dead - the opening day of the prison, helping the hungry souls without any place. Origin of Vu Lan holiday The Vu Lan ceremony stems from the legend of Bodhisattva Maudgalyayana to save her mother from the devil. Pastor Kien Lien was originally a great disciple of the Buddha who successfully trained magical power. After witnessing the Arhat, he recalled and wanted to know what his mother should now use magic to find. His mother, Mrs. Thanh De, died because of many evil karma, so she fell into the prison of a devil, being hungry and suffering. Sympathy, he brought the rice down to the devil to offer his mother. Due to hunger for a long time, Muc Kien Lien's mother when eating with one hand covered the rice bowl to prevent another soul scrambling, so when the food was brought up to the mouth, it immediately turned into red fire. Maudgalyayana returned to ask the Buddha how to save his mother. The Buddha taught that: "No matter how much Maudgalyayana is not enough to save his mother. Only one way is thanks to the monks and ten directions to rescue. Do as the Buddha's teaching, Maudgalyayana's mother was liberated from the miserable tank. Since then, sentient beings who want to filial piety to parents have to follow the teaching Buddha. And the full moon in July every year is chosen as Vu Lan holiday, organizing the prayers for the deceased relatives.
