Faced with that dangerous situation, Uy Linh Lang said: "As a man born between heaven and earth, if you don't defeat the enemy and save your life, how will your name be left in the history books?" Then he wrote a speech to the king asking to lead the army to fight the enemy and received the King's approval. When he raised the flag, he recruited soldiers, and within just a few days, thousands of people followed him to practice military exercises, learn the art of war, and organize neat teams. His army called itself "Thien Tu Army", attacking the Mongol Yuan army in Ban Than, Van Kiep, Man Tru, Dong Ket... achieving many victories. One Pillar Pagoda was started construction in the year Ky Suu 1049, under the reign of King Ly Thai Tong.
