Dao Nuong Mau Temple Festival: A place that preserves many traditional beauties As usual, in the second lunar month of every year, the people of Dao Dang village (Trung Nghia commune, Hung Yen city) enthusiastically prepare for the Dao Nuong temple festival. This is not only an opportunity for local people to express their gratitude to Mau Dao Nuong but also an opportunity to review the traditions of the homeland and preserve the national cultural identity. According to legend, Dao Nuong's real name is Dao Thi Hue, an extremely beautiful girl, famous for singing throughout Cao Cuong district, Tien Lu district, Khoai Chau district in the past, now Dao Dang village, Trung Nghia commune, City. Hung Yen. In the early 15th century, the Ming Dynasty used the excuse of "Fu Tran to destroy Ho" and sent troops to invade our country. Responding to Le Loi's Lam Son uprising against the Ming Dynasty's domination, Mrs. Dao Nuong and some sisters in the village opened a pub to attract Ming generals to come and eat, to learn about the enemy's internal affairs and help Le Loi attack Thang Long. Thanks to her outstanding talent and beauty, Dao Nuong quickly attracted the attention of both soldiers and generals of the Ming enemy. They were somewhat respectful and turned her pub into a place to meet, eat, and rest without taking any precautions. Every day, Ming enemy soldiers often flocked to Dao Nuong's pub to drink and drink all night long. The party was full of wine and they fell asleep again. At that time, Cao Cuong province was an area with luxuriant reeds and many insects, especially mosquitoes. Therefore, to avoid the cold and avoid being bitten by mosquitoes, the Ming invaders made bags out of hemp sacks to keep their bodies warm and safe from insects. At night, they crawl into bags and tie the bags to avoid mosquitoes. Dao Nuong was assigned many times to tie and open the bag. With this job, A Dao came up with a plan to kill the enemy. She and the boys waited for the enemy soldiers to fall asleep, then came and carried each sack and threw it into the river, the water drifted out to sea. Seeing that their forces were increasingly depleted for unknown reasons, they were afraid to withdraw. When Mrs. Dao Nuong passed away, remembering her gratitude, the villagers built a temple, called Mother Temple or Dao Nuong Temple. Dao Nuong Mother Temple was ranked as a national historical-cultural relic by the (former) Ministry of Culture and Information in 1988. In the past, the Dao Nuong temple festival was held from the 1st to the 6th day of the 2nd lunar month every year to celebrate the birth of Ba Dao Nuong (the 2nd day of the 2nd lunar month). During the festival, there are sacrifices, holy palanquin processions and many folk games. Participating in the worship and procession teams are unmarried girls. Currently, Dao Nuong temple festival takes place from the 1st to 4th of the second month (lunar calendar), the main festival is on February 2. The festival includes two main parts: the ceremony part and the festival part. The ceremony includes: Great ceremony, internal worship, external worship. In particular, the procession of Mrs. Dao Nuong's palanquin has only women participating in the procession. People organize a procession of the Mother Goddess palanquin to Dao Dang temple to pay homage to the Great King and a procession to the pagoda to ask for the Literature. Next is the palanquin procession to Dao Dang communal house to greet the council and the seven monks. Finally, the Mother is brought back to the temple. During the festival days, in addition to the local worship team, the Organizing Committee also invites worship teams in the surrounding areas. In addition to the sacrificial rituals during the festival, there are also many folk games such as cockfighting, Chinese chess, banh te wrapping contest, rice scraping contest and cultural exchanges that attract a large number of local people and tourists from all over.
