Nguyen Thai Hoc was born on December 1, 1902 in Tho Tang, Vinh Tuong district, Vinh Phuc province. He was a patriot right from the time he was in a colonial school. He sent a letter to Governor General of Indochina Alexandre Varenne, a member of the French Socialist Party, calling for social reform in Vietnam. The Governor-General of Indochina did not pay attention to what Nguyen Thai Hoc suggested. On December 25, 1927, Nguyen Thai Hoc and his colleagues organized the establishment of the Vietnam Nationalist Party, and he was elected Chairman. The Vietnamese Nationalist Party was hunted down and arrested by the authorities. Faced with the risk of the Vietnamese Nationalist Party being broken up, Nguyen Thai Hoc, Nguyen Khac Nhu and Pho Duc Chinh decided to carry out a "general armed uprising".
