Pan pang festival - Nang ny

Pan pang - Nang ny festival (or Muong Ham) is a unique traditional festival of the White Thai people in Nghe An, especially in the ancient Phu Quy area. The festival is held on the 5th - 7th day of the first lunar month, honoring meritorious ancestors, praying for good crops and health for the village. After a period of interruption, it was restored in Muong Ham village, Chau Cuong commune.  Meaning: Honoring traditional healers/doctors who have merited healing, praying for good weather and peace, peace and unity in the village. Location & Time: Takes place from the 5th to 7th of the first lunar month every year at Muong Ham, Chau Cuong commune, Quy Hop, Nghe An. Main activities: Including solemn spiritual rituals, offering offerings, singing and dancing, and unique Thai folk games.  The festival is a unique cultural beauty, attracting tourists to learn about the customs of the White Thai people in northwest Nghe An.  Muong Ham Festival is a unique traditional festival of the Thai ethnic group in Quy Hop, Nghe An, taking place at the beginning of the lunar year (January 5-6) at Muong Ham Temple, Chau Cuong commune, to pay tribute to the merits of the people who built the village, with worshiping rituals, communion and a vibrant festival with folk games such as bamboo jumping, shuttlecock throwing, crossbow shooting, imbued with the cultural identity of the Western region of Nghe An.  1. Origin & Meaning: Origin: Legend has it that Muong Ham was founded by Tao Noi, son of Tao Muong Ton, from Que Phong, merging the Muong Khun Tinh and Muong Ham. Meaning: Honoring the merits of the gods, praying for a prosperous new year, preserving and promoting Thai ethnic cultural identity, is an important New Year festival of Thai people in Western Nghe An. 2. Time & Location: Time: Usually takes place on the 5th and 6th of the first lunar month. Location: Muong Ham Temple, Chau Cuong commune, Quy Hop district, Nghe An province.  3. Main activities: Ceremony: Opening ceremony, making offerings, offering offerings and giving thanks to Tao Muong and Tao Noi; Tao Noi procession to the temple and opening ceremony (6th day). Festival: Mass art performances, folk games such as shuttlecock throwing, crossbow shooting, furrow carving, bamboo jumping, creating a joyful and united atmosphere.  4. Highlights: Muong Ham Festival is considered the first festival of the year for the Thai ethnic people in Nghe An. This is an opportunity for young people to learn about traditional traditions, exchange cultures and connect with the community.
