Din Temple Festival

Cultural and historical relic Din Temple (Nam Duong commune, Nam Truc, Nam Ha) is a place to worship Kieu Cong Han, a general of King Ngo Quyen in the past. In the past, from the beginning of December, people in the area were busy preparing for the Din Temple festival. Today, the Din Temple festival takes place on the 9th and 10th of December with all the ritual procedures and traditional games maintained according to tradition. During the two festivals, the incense offering ceremony to commemorate the national hero who helped the king defeat the Southern Han army, review the homeland's historical traditions, and encourage the people to develop production and build a prosperous and happy life are the most important parts. Besides, people also organize offerings to saints to pray for good luck. Unique folk games such as human chess, Chinese chess, martial arts, puppetry, cockfighting, cheo singing... attract many visitors from all over to attend the festival. Nowadays, every time at the festival, the Organizing Committee also opens sports competitions: volleyball, soccer, table tennis, badminton... for local youth and youth to compete. Enjoying the Din Temple festival, visitors cannot miss the procession of black carp and the competition. From early morning on the 10th, all over the village, people went out to have fun. At the auspicious hour, the processions of the villages arrive in order to worship at the temple yard. Leading the way is Bac Duong village, followed by Trung Hoa, Kim Thuong, Thi Chau, and Dam Voc. At the head of each procession is a lion dance group, followed by a carp procession with live carp weighing dozens of pounds, followed by fruit palanquins, banh chung, banh day, chicken sticky rice, whole roasted pig, vegetarian feast, and sweet feast. Along the way the procession went, villagers set up feasts along the roadside to welcome them. At 10:00 a.m., when the palanquins were settled in the temple yard, the Organizing Committee, elders and villagers began to review, vote and score. Any village that receives a high award is a good omen of a good harvest and the villagers will be lucky and healthy. In addition to the village's prize feast, the whole village also arranged for someone to prepare a heavenly feast, placed outdoors at the highest position in front of the temple door. Kinhthien's tray is full of cakes, sticky rice, chicken, fruits, spring rolls, spring rolls and dozens of types of sausage, beautifully presented. The special thing is that this feast must have enough local products such as fish, crabs, eels, snails... to respectfully report to heaven and earth about the results of a year of labor of the villagers. Din Temple Festival is the pride of Nam Ha people in a countryside with patriotic traditions, with talented people and rich products.
