La Temple Festival

La Temple Festival takes place every year in La Phu village, Yen Thanh commune, Yen Mo district, Ninh Binh province. This is a long-standing festival, taking place on the 13th to 15th day of the first lunar month to commemorate two kings of the post-Tran dynasty, Gian Dinh De and Trung Quang De. La Temple Festival consists of two parts: the ceremony and the festival. The ceremony includes a procession around La temple, followed by an incense offering ceremony and reading of funeral orations. All took place in a solemn and respectful atmosphere of the people participating in the festival. But the most fun and most anticipated part is the festival with many unique colors. Folk fun such as swinging, playing chess, singing and dancing, drawing words with very unique performances. There is a special point that the festival has the custom of offering "voi Vung". A type of sticky rice made from the whitest and most fragrant sticky rice. Here, each village will participate in the sticky rice contest and make offerings. Xoi Vung is a gift to offer to the gods, so when choosing the most delicious sticky rice, the sticky rice must be washed and boiled with water from the well of Thuong Phuong village called Me well. Other villages had to send people to the Tamarind well the day before to ask for water to soak the rice. People here believe that the Tamarind well is transparent and pure, and they cook very sticky and fragrant sticky rice to worship saints to show their devotion. La Temple Festival is a beautiful feature in the religious culture of the people in La Phu village. The festival is an opportunity to demonstrate the morality of remembering the source when drinking water, and to show respect to ancestors. With unique ceremonies and festivals, this place has long attracted many tourists from all over to come to this festival.
