Yen Ve village festival

Yen Ve village festival is a traditional festival of the people of Yen Ve village, Khanh Phu commune, Yen Khanh district, Ninh Binh province. Every year, on the 4th day of the first lunar month, people here jubilantly celebrate. Yen Ve village is famous for many temples such as Thuong temple worshiping the three saints: Tu Dao Hanh, Nguyen Minh Khong and Giac Hai. There is also Phuc Long Pagoda, a place to worship Thien Thien Thanh Mau, the mother who gave birth to Zen master Giac Hai, and is considered a very sacred place. Every year, on January 4, which is the death anniversary of Zen master Giac Hai, people here hold festivals to commemorate his kindness. The ceremony begins with the ritual of worshiping the saints, the villagers and tourists flock to Thuong temple. The sacred ritual is organized very meticulously and methodically, the atmosphere is quiet, enhancing the sacredness and majesty of the temple. But what attracts tourists the most is still the festival that takes place after worshiping the saint, notably the wrestling competition. In front of the yard of more than 60 square meters right in front of the Thuong temple, the people in the village were assigned to plow carefully before Tet, surrounding it with square bamboo poles. On the west side of the yard, one side is reserved for dignitaries and officials to sit. The opposite side is reserved for village elders and guests. The judge sits in an appropriate position to be able to score the contestants fairly. The wrestling match was very dramatic but also very fun because everyone participating had a spirit of communication and fun. Yen Ve village festival is a traditional cultural festival of Ninh Binh province. This festival has existed for a long time and has been preserved and promoted by people for many generations. That's why, every spring, many people come here to watch the festival.
