The Praying An Festival (Xen Ban, Xen Muong) of the Thai people in Son La is a unique cultural and religious activity, held at the end of January - early February of the lunar calendar. The festival aims to pray for peace in the village, healthy people, and a good harvest, including a solemn ceremony to worship ancestors/gods and a festival with Thai xoe and con throwing.  Characteristics of the Cau An Festival in Son La: Meaning: Giving thanks to ancestors, praying for good weather, good crops, breeding livestock, and peaceful village. Time: Usually held after the Lunar New Year, around the end of January and beginning of February of the lunar calendar. Subject: The Black Thai people (popular) and other ethnic groups such as the La Ha people in Moc Chau also have their own peace praying ceremonies. Main content: Ceremony: The shaman (mo muong) prays to the ancestors and gods to bless. The important ritual is to throw eggs (red - white), rice and wine around to pray for peace. Festival: Community eating, dancing, folk games such as shuttlecock throwing, quick eye catching. Offerings: Usually include wine, chicken, pig, or buffalo.  This festival not only carries spiritual value but is also an opportunity for the community to bond and preserve the unique traditional culture of Son La highland people.
