The mermaid cave is located in the core area of Trang An World Heritage Complex, belonging to the population of Thung Nham bird's eco -tourism area, Hai Nham village, Ninh Hai commune, Hoa Lu district, Ninh Binh province. The cave is called "mermaid" because of the magnificent landscape, the shape of a mermaid on the cool underground stream, like the scene on the ocean floor. Over hundreds of millions of years, many stalactites gradually no longer see the original shapes. Local people have placed a meticulously sculpted mermaid statue from the stalactites inside the cave. This cave has also been called "fish cave", because there are two rare and precious fishes living, namely Troi Tien King and perch. These two fish live in cold water, groundwater in limestone mountains. In the past, people used this cave to offer the king, because of the delicious taste. Today, these are two rare and endemic species of Ninh Binh, especially in Truong Yen - Hoa Lu and Thung Nham - Ninh Hai. Each season is different, the mermaid cave has a mysterious beauty. To go to the mermaid door, visitors step through about 200 stone steps, shady and cool, old, green bamboo canopy. Continuing to go deep into the cave, visitors climb down 40 deep and sloping stairs, eat into the mountain. The mermaid cave has a length of about 500m, winding along the limestone mountain, bringing pristine beauty. The widest place of the cave is only about 30m, 40m high. The ceiling surface of the mermaid cave is slightly rough, rough, with stalactite system with many strange shapes. This cave is located deep in the ground, visitors will walk, not sightseeing boats. Visitors will walk along the wooden road throughout the cave length, spleen through each large stalactite block. Under the dim light, the emulsion blocks appear beautiful shimmering, helping the mermaid space more mysterious and tinged with fairy tales.
