Lunar New Year Hoi An

Ong Pagoda, Cau Pagoda, Son Phong communal house, Cam Pho communal house, Tuy Tien Minh Huong street

The Nguyen Tieu Festival in Hoi An is held for 3 days from the 14th to the 16th of the first lunar month every year, the official ceremony will be held on the 16th lunar day. Visitors can attend the Lunar New Year in Hoi An at temples and pagodas such as Ong Pagoda, Cau Pagoda, Son Phong Communal House... and participate in the lantern festival right in the center of Hoi An ancient town, near the banks of the Hoai River.

The Lunar New Year comes from the folk beliefs of the people of Hoi An. They believe that this is the day when the gods will bestow blessings on all nations. Therefore, local people have long had a tradition of holding sacrifices, releasing droughts, praying for peace, and decorating their houses on this occasion. This is also one of the festivals with many spiritual meanings, an opportunity for people and tourists to express their respect to the sages and pray for a prosperous and peaceful new year.

Therefore, if you have the opportunity to travel to Hoi An in the first lunar month, do not miss the opportunity to join in the bustling atmosphere of this holiday.
