Tram Pagoda Festival

Tram Pagoda was built in the 16th century, founded by a monk general. The pagoda is named after the mountain on which it is based, "Tu Tram Mountain". Tram Pagoda is located not far from the center of Hanoi city, but has a peaceful spiritual breath, separate from the noise of the bustling capital. Coming to Tram Pagoda, visitors will encounter a charming water landscape as beautiful as a watercolor painting, with mountains hugging the river, small winding roads and rows of green ancient trees swaying to catch the wind.

The small, ancient Tram Pagoda once kept many memories of Uncle Ho. This place had the honor of welcoming Uncle Ho four times. The story is told that: in 1966, Uncle Ho returned to visit Tram pagoda, stood in front of the pagoda, saw people struggling to wade across Uncle Ho's canal to visit Tram pagoda in 1966. Uncle immediately asked the officials: "Let me ask you, which way should the people go first?". The official replied: "Sir, in the past, people used to walk in front of the temple door." He asked again: "Is it easier to go underwater or on land?" The officer replied: "Sir, traveling on foot is easy." Uncle immediately blamed: "Then why do you let the people carry the burden of wading in the water? It is not good for you to do the work of public transport."

Tram Pagoda is considered one of the four sacred pagodas belonging to the "four great landscapes of Doai", besides pagodas such as Tram Gian Pagoda, Thay Pagoda and Tay Phuong Pagoda. The pagoda bears the mark of typical spiritual and cultural architecture of the Northern Delta residents.
