Old dry festival, the most important traditional festival of the Ha Nhi people, organized on a community scale from 28 - 30/6/2025 (ie 4/4 - 6/6 lunar calendar) in localities with the Ha Nhi community in the province. Old dry dried festival is the largest and oldest seasonal festival of Ha Nhi Black people in Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province. The festival takes place in the sixth lunar month every year to pray for bumper crops, prosperous people, and happy life. "Old dry" in Ha Nhi means "bumper". According to the customs, the festival is held from the Dragon Day (the Dragon Day) to the day of the Monkey (the Monkey Day) of the 6th lunar month every year with the desire for the god, the forest god, the water god, the love god to protect the healthy people, blessing for a prosperous life, happiness, livestock development, bumper season. The seasonal festival of the Ha Nhi ethnic people includes a unique ceremony and a festival with folk games imbued with the culture of the upland ethnic people. The venue for the festival is the vacant lot in the only worshiping forest, where all the elderly, young, girls and boys can come to play during the festival. From the early morning of the first day of the festival, people conducted the work of getting the grass and bamboo roofing, the place where the festival activities took place. When the festival has been gathered, Ha Nhi men have been repaired and re -roofed with the meaning of each year that will bring new things to the village. The second day of the festival is a buffalo surgery ceremony. According to the concept of Ha Nhi people, the buffalo on this day was carefully selected before 1 month of the festival. The chosen buffalo must be a new, healthy and careful new male buffalo until the day of the ceremony. When the buffalo is done, it will divide all the meat parts evenly to the whole village. Each family participating in the ceremony will set up a tray of offerings including buffalo meat, wine and the products made of the family such as pork, chicken, eggs, peanuts, soy sauce, squash, cucumbers ... procession from the forest to contribute to the village, expressing respect, deeply grateful to the gods who have protected the life and bless the villagers. On the third day of the festival, early in the morning, Ha Nhi men will organize to get wood and wires in the forest to make two important games: ferris wheel and swing. Wood trees and swing strings must be carefully selected and strong. In the evening, the priest and representatives of the families in the village prepare the ceremony to bring the worship to worship the gods. The position of the ceremony is the ferris wheel and swing. The purpose of this ceremony is to pray for favorable rain and wind, bumper crops, and villagers have a prosperous life. At the same time, it is also expressing gratitude to the gods and praying for the gods to protect all those who attend the festival, participate in the games safely. After the ceremony, ethnic minorities here will abstain from cutting trees, cutting grass, chopping 3 days. It can be said that the funniest in the old dry festival is the festival, performing arts and competitions of traditional ethnic sports such as pushing sticks, ferris wheel, dance dance, tug of war ... The festival is one of the biggest traditional Tet days of the year of Ha Nhi. Families with children get married, get married or live far away all arranged on Tet holidays, visiting parents on this occasion.
